Watched Men In Black with M last night — it holds up pretty well actually. Still think the whole “galaxy in a marble” plot point probably should have been explained a bit — it’s such a pointless macguffin it does kind of derail the world-building of the movie for me. I had forgotten a couple of things — one how much the movie milked the “celebrities are really aliens” joke. The supermarket rags as the source of the real news is cute. There was also a joke about replacing CDs with a much smaller CD — that one was completely …
Calamity Jon Morris has a book out called the League of Regrettable Heroes. For every superhero hitting the big time with a blockbuster movie, there are countless failures, also-rans, and D-listers. The League of Regrettable Superheroes affectionately presents one hundred of the strangest superheroes ever to see print—from Atoman to Zippo—complete with backstories, vintage art, and colorful commentary. Drawing on the entire history of the medium, the book celebrates characters that haven’t seen the light of day in decades, like Natureboy, Dr. Hormone, Thunder Bunny, and more. It’s a must-read for comics fans of all ages! Morris, the creator of …

This year’s edition is chock full of excellent guests and there are almost always a ton of great artists exhibiting at the tables. The SPX tumblr has a lot of good updates on SPX associated artists and the upcoming show.

If you’ve ever read past comics by Shiga (and you should!) you know he has an almost cute, but precise cartoony art style which he combines with a passion for puzzle-driven narratives and logic-driven characters. Demon is about a man who discovers that he is a demon who possesses humans. Jason Shiga sets up his world with some rules to cover the existence of demons and then takes delight in extrapolating to ridiculous ends what that would mean. I really don’t want to …
Fall Out 4 is the first videogame I’ve been really excited to play in a couple of years. How many days until November 11th? Half Life 3 on the other hand?
