The novel The Man in the High Castle is my favorite novel by Philip K. Dick.  (Granted I haven’t read all of them yet so that could change.)  I was interested when Amazon did a pilot for a teevee show based on the novel.  Mostly I thought it was an interesting adaption.  It did a lot of work to recreate the alternate universe.  I was a little less excited about the change from a book to a film for the central plot device.  (A macguffin or a metaguffin perhaps but important to the story). David Bowie 1947 – 2016

David Robert Jones died yesterday at age 69 — which seems way too young.  I had no idea he was fighting liver cancer (which is reported as the cause of his death).  I wouldn’t say Bowie is my favorite artist ever but you couldn’t help but be impressed by the vitality of his career.  I have favorite songs from all parts of his career but a fondness for the overlooked stint with Tin Machine.

Comix TALK archives back on the web

I ported a good bit of the ComixTALK database from Drupal to WordPress and put it back up on the web. Of course there are numerous broken bits and ragged edges on the thing but it’s nice to have the archives in public again. That project lasted just about ten years and while I am probably not going to jump into writing there right now, now I can if I have the time and desire.

On yesterday’s post I included an old sketch of a recurring character – Tom Banner (a character I created in 6th grade) that it is painful to look at.  Sorry about that – I guess the face is okay but I think his left arm is half the length it should be and that tie is a little too Dilbert-y. Anyhow here is a sketch of same characterfor that I did yesterday at lunch.
