David Bowie 1947 – 2016

David Robert Jones died yesterday at age 69 — which seems way too young.  I had no idea he was fighting liver cancer (which is reported as the cause of his death).  I wouldn’t say Bowie is my favorite artist ever but you couldn’t help but be impressed by the vitality of his career.  I have favorite songs from all parts of his career but a fondness for the overlooked stint with Tin Machine.

I ported a good bit of the ComixTALK database from Drupal to WordPress and put it back up on the web. Of course there are numerous broken bits and ragged edges on the thing but it’s nice to have the archives in public again. That project lasted just about ten years and while I am probably not going to jump into writing there right now, now I can if I have the time and desire.

Thomas Banner Sketch

On yesterday’s post I included an old sketch of a recurring character – Tom Banner (a character I created in 6th grade) that it is painful to look at.  Sorry about that – I guess the face is okay but I think his left arm is half the length it should be and that tie is a little too Dilbert-y. Anyhow here is a sketch of same characterfor that I did yesterday at lunch.

WordPress on the Desktop

A quick post to try out the new WordPress app for the Mac (it’s available for Linux and Windoz too).  Seems pretty comparable to the in-browser editing experience. I also got my “annual report” on Altertainment from Jetpack.  I didn’t do much blogging this year so understandly the world’s attention to the site has fallen off of a cliff, into the ocean and almost to the bottom of the Marianas Trench.
